Jack White

Ex-frontman of The White Stripes, Jack White, confirmed that he’ll be releasing his debut album soon. Entitled Blunderbuss, it’s due out on April 23 through White’s own label, Third Man Records.

Main author of The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, Raconteurs songs, Jack White told while talking to Zane Lowe for BBC Radio 1 on January 30 that he didn’t really even think of recording under his own name for a long time, thinking that he had the rest of his life to do that. But once when an artist failed to show up for a booked recording session at Third Man Records, White decided to use the studio time for his own songs, and that had him started.

In White’s words quoted in official press release, this is an album he couldn’t have released until now: “I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas”.

First single “Love Interruption” is already available for online streaming and will be released on 7″ vinyl on February 7 this year. It’s also available for purchase at Amazon here. You may hear the song below. Another track from the upcoming album, “Machine Gun Silhouette”, will be featured on single’s b-side. You may pre-order it now at JackWhiteIII.com or thirdmanrecords.com.

Female vocals that can be heard throughout “Love Interruption” belong to Grammy nominee singer-songwriter Ruby Amanfu. Ruby collaborated with Jack once: they both played at Conan O’Brien’s show in Wanda Jackson’s band. Jack was on guitars, and Ruby was on vox.
