Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody to play a part in Game Of Thrones

Gary Lightbody on the set of Game Of Thrones
The buzz around HBO’s successful drama series Game Of Thrones, based on books of George R. R. Martin, doesn’t ever seem to go away; not that we complain. A little more than a week has passed after the showrunners announced season 3 premiere date and names of new cast members at Comic-Con in San Diego, and now they’re already back to filming. What we expected least of all was the name of Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody to appear on the list of newly-joined actors. Which it didn’t, at least not on the official list from show executives. But there he goes, Lightbody, taking us by surprise when posting a photo of himself all costumed and made-up on the set of Game Of Thrones, and saying that he’s already done his scene.
“So I did my scene this morning for Game Of Thrones. I looked like this. Can’t say much just it’s no pivotal role. Fun!”, Gary commented on the photo.
We shouldn’t jump to expressing crazy ideas right away and better instead believe Gary when he says it’s not a big deal. But we can’t help but wonder whether this experience might inspire Lightbody to write a song or two for the show. After all, The National have already contributed a piece for Game Of Thrones recently and it would be nice to see other bands following their example, wouldn’t it?
Meanwhile, Snow Patrol are to play in Hyde Park on July 27 at the London Olympics 2012 opening concert and have recently announced a joint headline tour with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in North America in October and November.
