Watch Sigur Rós’s experimental video for Rembihnútur

Sigur Ros

The list of experimental videos for songs from new Sigur Rós album, Valtari, keeps growing. The newest short film in the series, Rembihnútur, is directed by Arni & Kinski, who had worked with Sigur Rós before on a number of band’s music videos. The video revolves around deep meditation.

Directors have shared thoughts on the work: “For the last twelve years meditation has been a way of life for us. Going within, releasing emotions, moving through negativity, judgment, discouragement, and the fears that are so often in the mind. Being able to move from the mind into the heart. This is what the music of sigur rós helps us to do and we use it as a tool in our meditation. In meditation we are able to feel and move through our emotions allowing us to drop deeper within our hearts. From this depth of heart we are finding more acceptance, compassion, love, gratitude, passion, clarity, intuitive thinking and much much more.”

This is the fourth film from the series of experimental videos based on songs from Valtari. With a modest budget from Sigur Rós, several filmmakers were asked to create short films that would reflect their perception of the tracks featured on band’s new album. Three videos, Fjögur Píanó, Varúð and Ég Anda were already published, with more to come. You may watch them, as well as follow the schedule of upcoming videos at band’s official website.
