Bloc Party announced and basically released a new single today. Entitled Octopus, it’s the first single off their upcoming new album Four and will be released tomorrow, July 11, on iTunes digitally, with the hard copy set to be out on August 13 on 7″ vinyl with a b-side track, Straight Thru Cru.

The band already unveiled official music video for Octopus, directed by Nova Dando, who’s directed the video of Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke’s What Did I Do last year. You may watch the video of Octopus below.

Rumours about Octopus to be released as the first single were floating around for some time, with July 3 named as possible release date. Bloc Party didn’t keep the fans waiting for too long though, and revealed it only a week late from the anticipated date.

Band’s fourth studio album, logically entitled Four, is due out on August 20.
